Qorvo, a provider of connectivity and power solutions, has launched the industry’s first 24V power doubler amplifier for DOCSIS 4.0 broadband and cable TV systems. This 1.8 GHz surface mount module reduces space usage by 30-40%, making it suitable for applications with limited space. The company claims that the amplifier is primarily designed for use by cable TV and broadband providers, network engineers and system integrators, equipment manufacturers for communication networks, research and development teams, and technical procurement managers.

The QPA3390 achieves 23 dB of gain at 1794 MHz using GaAs pHEMT and GaN HEMT technologies. It offers good return loss performance and operates with minimal noise, featuring adjustable DC current settings to balance RF output with power consumption. Encased in a 9 mm x 8 mm multi-chip module (MCM) package, the QPA3390 uses Qorvo’s GaN technology to ensure reliability and performance, and is the only 24V solution offering 73 dBmV total composite power at 11.5W.

The QPA3390 features adjustable DC current for power management and temperature sensing for consistent performance across conditions, integrating with the amplifier transformer and QPP0022 and QPP0024 baluns, delivering a solution for broadband networks.

Some of the key features of power doubler amplifier includes:

  • 23dB Gain
  • 73dBmV TCP
  • Excellent Linearity
  • Extremely Low Distortion
  • Adjustable Current
  • Temperature Sensing Feature

Bob Simmers, senior marketing manager for Qorvo’s Infrastructure business, said, “The QPA3390 sets a new benchmark in DOCSIS 4.0 amplifier technology to meet the highly demanding requirements of the broadband industry. With its superior performance metrics and compact design, the QPA3390 reinforces Qorvo’s leadership in the CATV amplifier market.”
