The IS31CS9310 model launched by Lumissil Microsystems is tailored for industrial applications, while the AEC-Q100 grade-1 qualified IS32CS9310 is suited for automotive environments. Both versions feature an 8 x 12 LED matrix driver as a key component, integrating eight PMOS (p-channel metal–oxide–semiconductor) switches and twelve 80mA PWM (pulse-width modulation)-controlled current sinks. This allows for individual LED brightness adjustments across 4,096 levels and offers control for the entire matrix across 256 levels. This product primarily targets manufacturers and developers in sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial automation, who seek efficient, integrated solutions for interactive displays.

“They feature integrated non-volatile memory to store LED parameters essential for dynamic lighting effects such as color transition, pulsing, fading, and animated patterns,” the company stated. To mitigate potential electromagnetic interference (EMI) from high-frequency LED operations, these drivers incorporate spread spectrum frequency modulation. Additionally, a de-ghosting circuit addresses LED ghosting issues, ensuring clarity in illumination.

The microcontroller also includes a touch interface capable of managing up to 16 capacitive touch keys in self-capacitance mode or an 8 x 8 matrix in mutual capacitance mode, which enables eight-channel proximity sensing for gesture detection. “These touch key sensors offer water and dust resistance, ensuring reliable operation in environments prone to moisture or splashes,” company claims.

Sound feedback is provided by an integrated melody controller that supports 14-bit frequency control, duration, and pause adjustments. The architecture allows for double-buffering, enabling a new note to be played while another is still in progress.

The microcontroller is equipped with 256 KB of flash memory, 16 KB of data RAM, and 16 KB of DMA (Direct memory access) RAM, powered by a 32 MHz 32-bit RISC-V processor. The processor features configurable pipeline depth and execution types, with dynamic voltage and frequency scaling for optimal energy efficiency.

Supporting over-the-air updates and featuring a debugging port, the IC is suitable for a range of applications, including domestic appliances, automotive dashboards, and industrial control panels. The operating temperature ranges from -40 to +85°C for the IS31 model and -40 to +125°C for the IS32.
